Eng. Session at Boothe Park

Nicole and Josh asked whether it would be better to have the engagement session at a beach or a park. I suggested a park, thinking that parks usually have a greater diversity of options and backgrounds. That proved to be an understatement. Boothe Park in Stratford had enough options for a week-long engagement session. It's like a nicely decorated giant miniature golf course, if that makes any sense.

Nicole and Josh were very amusing, teasing each other about what not to do on an E-session. I spent half the time advising, "Don't listen to him; don't listen to her", but the other half we came up with some fun pictures. Their wedding is coming up in November so stay tuned in for another chapter of their love story.

Portrait of a Dancer

Every once in a while something non-wedding related comes up. Even though I thoroughly enjoy photographing weddings, it's a nice change of pace every once in a while to photograph another genre. Meet Maria. She is a competitive dancer who was looking for a professional portrait. Maria has a passion for upbeat hip-hop as well as other types. After some communication, we decided it would be best to try a studio-type setup as well as some outdoor portraits in the Yale area of New Haven. We came up with a pretty good variety of options, including these five. Good luck Maria!

Wedding at Costa Azzura

After returning from Massachusetts on Saturday, it was a great to have a wedding reception about a stone's throw from the studio in Milford at Costa Azzura's . As was the case on Saturday, strong family connections played a large role. (I'm not sure if I'll ever photograph so many people in group portraits in one weekend again!) It is a challenge to focus both on group portraits and on telling the story of the wedding, but having an assistant on Sunday helped to achieve the goal. Cylene and Bill's families were delightful. Congratulations, Cylene and Bill! Best of luck!

Cape Cod Wedding

One wedding this past weekend took me all the way to East Falmouth, Mass. Despite rumors of hail the size of Chia Pets, the day was gorgeous. Marianna and Chad were easy-going and fun-loving, so it was a joy to capture some interesting happenings. Congratulations, Marianna and Chad! Best of luck!

Marianna received a love note just before the ceremony. Tip for prospective brides: keep plenty of tissues around the morning of the wedding.

I have a bad habit of snapping pictures of children at weddings before explaining to them why I have such a large lens.

I find it interesting how such a slight variation can indicate a totally different emotion.

Here is our lovely bride walking down the aisle.....

.... And the handsome groom eager to stand beside his love.

Ahhh, yes-- the late afternoon light. When it hits nicely, it's tough to beat.

Can a guest book be more fun than this?

Romance, romance......

Can you guess who will catch the bouquet?

This is the 3rd consecutive wedding that a very young lady caught the bouquet. What do they feed these kids?

Did I mention there were cute tikes at this wedding?

These were some grade A sparklers. Just enough light to snap a few shots of the celebratory send-off.
